The Lead Story: Travel Influencers Are Moving Closer to the Booking

Image generated via AI for representational purposes
MakeMyTrip and Cleartrip are building formal creator programmes as travel content moves deeper into the booking funnel. MakeMyTrip launched Creator Circle on June 2 with around 300 creators and targeted 500 within a month, while Cleartrip has built a network of more than 400 creators across Instagram and YouTube. Cleartrip says coupon redemptions from the programme grew more than 85% month-on-month over the past two months, with the current month projected to close at nearly twice the previous level. Its programme also uses comment-to-DM automation, sending viewers who comment “TRIP” a pre-filled booking link and coupon code.
Creator marketing becomes considerably more valuable to OTAs once discovery can be linked directly to transactions. Cleartrip’s model is performance-led rather than based on fixed monthly payouts, while MakeMyTrip is similarly creating infrastructure around creators who can influence where travellers go and then direct that intent towards a booking. Travel is particularly suited to the model because inspiration often precedes an exact product search: a hotel, destination or itinerary can create the demand before the traveller opens an OTA. The commercial question therefore shifts from how much reach a creator generates to how much bookable demand that audience produces. Cleartrip’s redemption growth suggests social content can already be measured against transactions, giving OTAs another acquisition channel alongside search, paid media and existing direct traffic.
The Briefing:
Allegiant Builds Capacity Around the Travel Window:
Allegiant has announced nine new nonstop routes, including seven hyper-seasonal services for February 2027 designed around peak spring travel periods. The model allows capacity to follow concentrated leisure demand without requiring every route to operate year-round.
Goa Crosses 61 Lakh Visitors, but Growth Is Almost Flat:
Goa recorded 61.38 lakh tourist arrivals between January and July 2026, up just 0.08% year-on-year, including 59.02 lakh domestic and 2.36 lakh international visitors. July arrivals rose 2.27%, putting greater weight on season extension and international market development rather than headline volume growth alone.
Navi Mumbai Gets Its First International Freighter:
Hong Kong Air Cargo began dedicated freighter operations from Navi Mumbai International Airport on August 16, becoming the first international carrier to operate from the new airport. Cargo gives NMIA another way to build airline activity and international connectivity as the airport develops its network.
Bhogapuram Takes Over Visakhapatnam’s Commercial Flights:
Commercial operations began at Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Bhogapuram with an IndiGo flight from Hyderabad, as flights shifted away from Visakhapatnam Airport. The transition changes the region’s airport infrastructure rather than simply adding another point of capacity.
India’s ₹13,000 Crore Live Events Boom Is Becoming a Travel Story
What happened: India’s live events market has grown sharply, with the sector valued at more than ₹13,000 crore and projected to reach nearly ₹19,600 crore by 2028. Industry reporting points to concerts, festivals, sporting events, cultural gatherings and community-led experiences as contributors to the expansion. Separate reporting on the 2026 industry data shows live events grew 44% in 2025, while India recorded more than 34,000 events and over 130 concert days involving crowds of at least 10,000.
Why it matters: Large events create travel demand around a fixed date and location, giving flights, hotels and ground transport a concentrated booking window. The opportunity increases when audiences travel between cities specifically for an event, because the ticket becomes only one part of the total trip. Hotels can price around compression periods, airlines gain identifiable demand peaks, and travel sellers can package accommodation and transport around an itinerary whose primary purpose is already established. As the event calendar expands beyond a few large metros and includes more formats, event-led travel can become a recurring demand segment rather than an occasional spike attached to a handful of blockbuster concerts.
Visual- Stat of the Day:

Takeaway: Agoda recorded a 14% year-on-year increase in searches from Europe for travel to India during summer 2026, with the UK leading the rise in interest. Search growth matters before it becomes arrival growth because it gives hotels, destinations and travel sellers an early indication of where international consideration is building. Converting that interest will depend on whether relevant accommodation, routes and products are visible when travellers move from inspiration into comparison and booking. India therefore has an opportunity to capture a larger share of European outbound demand without waiting for arrival statistics to reveal the trend after the booking window has passed.
Electric Seaplanes Could Open a Different Kind of Regional Aviation Network:
Case: SkyHop Aviation is exploring electric seaplane deployment with Noemi Aerospace across India and South Asia. The company plans a fleet of up to 40 aircraft by FY2030, with electric and hybrid seaplanes potentially accounting for 20–25%. SkyHop initially plans to connect Lakshadweep with mainland India and is evaluating Noemi aircraft for additional regional routes.
Where it helps: Seaplanes can create air links where conventional airport infrastructure is harder to build or where geography makes surface access slow. In tourism markets built around islands, coastlines and remote leisure destinations, shorter access times can change which places are commercially viable for packaged trips and shorter stays. SkyHop’s planned Lakshadweep connectivity gives the model a direct tourism use case rather than positioning the aircraft only as an aviation technology experiment.
Risk: Fleet plans alone do not establish viable route economics. SkyHop’s Noemi aircraft additions remain subject to commercial evaluation and final agreements, while expansion beyond the initial network depends on successful aircraft induction and performance. Electric or hybrid propulsion can reduce one operating constraint, but the network still needs sufficient demand and commercially workable deployment to support regular services.
